 West USA Realty opened its doors in April of 1986 at its corporate location of 11022 North 28th Drive in Phoenix with 5000 square feet of Class A office space. Clay Fouts, the President and Founder of West USA, had a five-year plan to encompass the Valley of the Sun with the finest branch offices and become the largest real estate firm in Arizona. This feat was accomplished in four years when West USA acquired Tradewinds Realty, a major realty firm in the East Valley. This acquisition doubled the size of West USA to approximately 800 agents. Since that time, the company has grown to over 2000 agents and continues to maintain the number one position in the State.

Prior to real estate, Clay Fouts spent 12 years in financial planning. As Division and Regional Manager for large firms, Clay's territories included much of the South and Western United States. He then opened his own financial planning firm in Phoenix and was licensed with the SEC and NASD as a licensed principal. Upon becoming involved with real estate, he found a "new love" and a tremendous opportunity for him and his clients. In 1974, he cancelled his Securities and Insurance licenses to concentrate on a career in real estate. After receiving his real estate license in 1974, Clay worked as a salesman dealing in residential, commercial and land prior to opening West USA in 1986.
